Aerosols have a significant impact on cloud formation and behavior, ultimately influencing precipitation patterns. Understanding this relationship is crucial for predicting and mitigating the effects of climate change. These particles play an important role in the complex interaction between atmospheric conditions and precipitation patterns. Therefore, the objective of this study is to investigate and analyze the relationship between different types of aerosols and precipitation in Southeast Iran. For this purpose, daily precipitation data from 43 meteorological stations over the statistical period from 2000 to 2022 were used, and rainy days with an AOD index value above 0.3 were selected for regression analysis. In this study, to reveal the spatial relationship between various types of aerosols and precipitation in Southeast Iran, a geographically weighted regression model was first applied, and the correlation between the AOD index and precipitation was examined through cell-by-cell analysis. The results showed that the correlation between aerosols and precipitation in Southeast Iran ranges from a minimum of 0.3 to a maximum of 0.96. Additionally, the comparison of precipitation values with the AOD index on rainy days indicates that the highest frequency of precipitation occurred at specific aerosol densities, with 84.61% of significant cell precipitation occurring when the AOD index ranged between 0.5 and 0.8. At higher values, the frequency of precipitation significantly decreased. This finding suggests that an increase in aerosol concentration beyond an AOD value of 0.8 leads to a reduction in precipitation frequency in Southeast Iran
